Increasing of traffic safety on the motorway M-6 (v. Bosilovo – v. Turnovo) through the construction of sidewalks and the regulation and acceptance of surface stormwater

The motorway road M-6 is passing through the center of the populated areas Bosilovo and Turnovo and leads to Novo Selo border crossing, R. Bulgaria and further to other countries. Therefore the frequency of this road is great and it is used for daily motion of heavy trucks, buses and cars for domestic and international transportation of goods and passengers.

In these settlements the safety of pedestrians in traffic is at low level, because there are no sidewalks and if there is, they are not in accordance with the standards. That’s why the movement of the citizens on both sides of the motorway is difficult and leads to an increased level of traffic accidents.

On the other hand, the amount of water generated in case of heavy rain stays on the traffic lanes, which contributes to jeopardizing of traffic and pedestrian safety. This project will enable the construction of sidewalks and installation of concrete gutters and drains which will increase the safety of pedestrians and reduce the risk of accidents.

Objectives of the project

• Increasing the safety of the inhabitants in the populated areas Bosilovo and Turnovo;
• Construction of walking paths – sidewalks in the populated areas Bosilovo and Turnovo;
• Setting up gutters for drainage of storm water.
