Primary Health Care Network
Short description of the project
The HEALTHNET project aims to improve access to primary health care in rural cross-border areas where the population has difficult access to health units. Specifically, a mobile health unit will be purchased in both regions. Each mobile unit will be appropriately configured and equipped with medical and ICT equipment. In addition, each unit will be staffed with health workers, i.e. a doctor, a nurse and a physician.
An information system will also be developed to record the medical history and examinations of patients. The mobile units will operate through a regulated plan (protocol, under the supervision of a joint committee installed in both regions), with responsible care professionals who emphasize early diagnosis and prevention (for example, not only vaccination, but also teaching elementary self-management techniques to stay healthy) and the use of today’s information and communication technologies.
Within the framework of the joint strategy (roadmap), each region will formulate its business plan for the mobile unit service including the service, the soft/hard equipment requirements of the technical unit. According to this plan, the pilot application of mobile health units is set up with the aim of forming a well-functioning network with other primary health care organizations. The project promotes social inclusion and combats poverty and discrimination by providing health services to people in remote areas who do not have easy access to health structures. Consequently, it reduces inequalities in terms of health status.
However, the more significant contribution of HEALTHNET to the Program is the improvement of access to primary health care in isolated and disadvantaged communities in the cross-border area.
