Improving the existing road infrastructure in rural areas in the South-East planning region for better access to agricultural аreas

Short description of the project

The South-East planning region is the largest and most famous agricultural region in the Republic of Northern Macedonia, and the agricultural sector is a leading industry and generator of the region’s development. Most of the active business entities are in the field of primary agriculture and processing of agricultural products. The sector is also composed of a number of smaller family farms and individual producers.

Cultivation of agricultural land as one of the main sources of livelihood of the population, connection with road infrastructure between settlements, as well as improving access to agricultural arable land are the only prerequisite for providing a better quality of life for citizens living in rural areas in the South-East region.

Due to the lack of adequate infrastructure, the access of farmers to their agricultural areas is difficult in order for them to perform their daily work responsibilities. Through this project four municipalities in the South-East region are expected to receive improved field roads, compacted, widened, without holes and with cleaned vegetation in order for farmers to have easier and faster access to their agricultural areas.

The roads that will be improved are located in the municipalities of Bosilovo, Novo Selo, Gevgelija and Bogdanci and they will provide access to farmers to a total of 388 hectares of fertile agricultural land. The construction of these roads is of great importance for the agricultural households in the region, because they will have better and faster access to their arable land, will be more motivated to perform their daily duties on the fields and to grow more profitable crops. “Improving the existing road infrastructure in rural areas in the South-East planning region for better access to agricultural аreas.
