Improving utility services in the South-East Planning Region through the procurement of a vehicle for the municipality of Valandovo

The project is aimed at improving the waste management system and improving the quality of municipal services in the municipality of Valandovo through the procurement of a specialized vehicle for waste collection and transport.

The need for the implementation of the project arises from the state of the existing municipal machinery, which is outdated and prone to frequent breakdowns, which reduces the efficiency and regularity of waste collection services. Insufficient capacities for timely waste collection and transport create additional challenges for maintaining public hygiene and can contribute to the emergence of illegal landfills and environmental pollution.

The procurement of the new specialized vehicle will strengthen the operational capacities for waste management and create conditions for more regular, more efficient and higher quality provision of municipal services to the population.

The project also provides for the possibility of flexible use of the vehicle in cases where additional strengthening of waste collection and transport capacities is needed, thus encouraging better utilization of available resources and inter-municipal cooperation in the South-East Planning Region.

Project Objectives

The general objective of the project is to improve the quality of life of citizens by increasing the efficiency and quality of municipal services and creating a cleaner and healthier environment.

The specific objectives of the project are:

• improving the system for collection and transportation of municipal waste;
• modernizing and strengthening the capacities of municipal services;
• improving the regularity and efficiency of waste collection;
• improving public hygiene and environmental protection;
• reducing the risk of creating illegal landfills;
• reducing costs associated with the maintenance and frequent repairs of old machinery;
• promoting inter-municipal cooperation and more efficient use of available resources.
