Green for Good

The “Green for Good” project is an initiative for the transition to a low-carbon economy and sustainable development in the cross-border region between North Macedonia and Greece. The main goal is to promote the circular economy and efficient resource management through investments in renewable energy sources, development of electric vehicle infrastructure and creation of urban green spaces.

Project Objectives:

• Reduce pollution and improve air quality through clean energy and sustainable transport solutions.
• Promote the use of renewable energy by installing PV systems and introducing smart energy management.
• Enhance sustainable mobility with electric vehicle charging infrastructure and an e-minibus for public transport.
• Develop green urban infrastructure (pilot gardens) that encourages eco-friendly lifestyles and environmental education.
• Establish a Green Education Centre/Living Lab as a hub for knowledge-sharing, capacity building, and innovation.
• Strengthen cross-border cooperation through joint initiatives, events, and governance structures.

The Green for Good (G4G) project introduces a set of integrated activities that combine green infrastructure, renewable energy, sustainable mobility, and community engagement. By implementing practical pilot actions and knowledge-sharing initiatives, the project aims to demonstrate innovative approaches to sustainable development while strengthening cross-border cooperation and creating long-term benefits for citizens, local authorities, and businesses. The activities in the G4G project include:

1. • Establishing 8 electric vehicle charging stations across borders, 6 in the South-East region in N. Macedonia in Strumica, Radovish, Novo Selo, Valandovo, Dojran and Gevgelija, 1 in Thessaloniki and 1 in Thermi in Greece.
   • Providing 1 electric mini-bus for public transport for Thermi.
   • Installation of 4 photovoltaic (PV) systems (40 kW each), in Municipalities of Gevgelija, Radovish, Bosilovo and Konche.
   • Installation of 1 combined PV system (40 kW) with a Building Energy Management System (BEMS) in public building in Thermi.
   • Organization of at least 6 cross-border renewable energy events.
   • Developing 2 pilot urban gardens (Radovish & Thermi).
   • Creation of a Green Education Centre in Gevgelija, which will serve as a center for training, workshops to raise awareness about sustainable development, energy efficiency and circular economy and G4G Living Lab in Thessaloniki as a hub for training and innovation.
   • Form a Cross-Border Management Committee to ensure sustainability and long-term cooperation.
