The common challenge for the project partners is related to serious flooding in their territories. In the municipality of Konce, the Dedinska River overflows its riverbed in case of severe storms accompanied by heavy rain, wind and occasionally hail and thunderstorms. Also, the Caparevska River, due to heavy rains and the water level of the river and the formed islands, overflows its right bank and negatively affects the wall of the main road E-79. This causes a risk of flooding of residential buildings and properties along the river in the settlement regulation. The Caparevska River poses a serious threat and its condition is similar to the situation that Konce faces with the Dedinska River. The chosen strategy is related to the most appropriate flood risk management approaches available in the specific situations.

Results
The following results were achieved as a result of the project:
- 1 intervention to improve disaster management and risk prevention (Regulation of the Dedinska River in Konce),
- 1 intervention to adapt and mitigate the consequences of climate change (Increasing the hydraulic conductivity of the Caparevska River with geotargets and green measures);
- 1 joint mechanism for disaster management and risk prevention and for promoting climate change awareness (joint plan);
- 8 institutions involved in an initiative (Joint Seminar) regarding risk prevention and management – 6 municipalities and 2 regional administrations;
- 84 participants in trainings and campaigns in the field of risk prevention (awareness raising campaign and joint seminar);
- 8687 residents benefiting from flood protection measures (citizens of the municipalities of Konce and Strumjani).
