Localities “Oraovicа monastery – St. George” in the village Oraovica and “Konche monastery – St. Stefan” in the village Konche are built during 13-14 century. They have unique natural and cultural values, with a lot of history, legends, myths, religious traditions and events that have contributed over time these localities to become a place for traditional gathering of the people in this region and beyond. This project will enable urban and horticultural arrangement of these two sites, will allow improvement of the conditions for the sense of traditional in the people of this region and beyond, and are also expected to increase the tourist arrivals to these two monastic complexes of the citizens from the South-East and East planning regions, as well as other domestic and foreign tourists.
Objectives of the project:
- Infrastructure arrangement and installation of suitable urban equipment at Oraovica monastery and Konche
monastery; - Development of rural eco-tourism;
- Improvement of the economic situation of the local communities;
- Increasing the number of tourists;
- Additional revenues in the municipal budgets;
- Improvement of the touristic offer in SEPR.
Results of the project
- Complete infrastructure, horticultural and sign regulated sites – Oraovica monastery and Konche
monastery; - Increased number of visitors from the region by 30% by the end of 2016 and thus increased development
of the rural tourism.
