Installing renewable energy sources and improving energy efficiency in Strumjani and Vasilevo

Short description of the project

The project envisages energy-efficient lighting in Strumjani and the implementation of energy-efficient construction activities, as well as lighting in the municipality of Vasilevo. The project will also educate the public on environmental issues and is expected to increase inclusiveness and environmental care. In this way, the project will have a long-term impact on reducing electricity and heating consumption in both municipalities, thereby reducing CO2 emissions in the cross-border area. The administrations of Vasilevo and Strumjani will reduce costs for school maintenance and street lighting. The targeted investments will reduce CO2 emissions by 20% for each municipality, by reducing energy consumption by 35% compared to the starting point for each of them. The project will increase the capacity of local public institutions to implement energy efficiency measures and use EEE.

Results

Main results: exchange of expertise and capacity of 30 representatives from municipal administrations for the implementation of energy efficiency policies, sharing of good and bad practices from energy-efficient management of public infrastructure in the municipalities of Vasilevo and Strumjani; engagement of an external lecturer to present good EE and IOE practices and methods of public infrastructure from the cross-border region and abroad, which will provide an opportunity for employees in the municipality to get acquainted with positive practices in the field of EE and IOE in public infrastructure; increasing the capacity of 30 representatives from municipal administrations and public infrastructure managers in Strumjani and Vasilevo – application of new technologies with remote control of heating systems, innovative insulation technologies, new EE heating, automatic lighting control systems, IOE in public infrastructure and combined application; 424 LED street lights installed for traffic and people safety at night; reduction of CO2 emissions generated by electricity consumption by 20% and reduction of energy consumption for street lighting by 35% compared to the energy consumed before the introduction of LED lighting; improvement of the energy efficiency of the municipal building with an area of ​​121.41 m2, reduction of CO2 emissions by 20% through the investment in the primary school “Goce Delchev” in Sedlarci, where the energy consumption of the building will be 20% lower compared to the starting point before the investment.
