All ten municipalities in the South-East region have some form of organized service for solid waste management. Important to note is that services for waste management of municipal utilities are concentrated in municipal solid waste, which in accordance with all national programs, strategies and solutions indicate that waste management encompasses all types of waste created by: households, industry, construction waste, agricultural, medical waste.
According to the legislation on waste management the region is obligated to deliver ten-year Regional Plan for Waste Management, which will apply to all types of waste handling and cleanliness of waste collection, transportation and disposal of the waste. The completed plans (regional and municipal) should be adopted by the Municipal Councils upon prior consent of the state authority for waste management.
Objectives of the project:
- Development of a Regional Waste Management Plan for the period 2017 – 2026;
- Development of a five-year Regional Waste Management Programme 2017- 2021;
- Development of 10 (ten) municipal Waste Management Plans 2017- 2021;
- Development of 10 (ten) one-year Waste Management Programs (2017).
