Short description of the project
The specific objective of the project is to promote cooperation between regional actors in the field of intangible cultural heritage tourism in the Blagoevgrad region of Bulgaria and the South-Eastern region of North Macedonia. The cross-border region of Bulgaria and North Macedonia is known for its unique cultural and historical assets (i.e. churches and monasteries, festivals, carnivals, crafts, authentic ethnic ambiances, diverse and preserved traditions and local folklore). These funds provide excellent opportunities for the sustainable development of various forms of tourism and could play a crucial role in promoting the current tourism offer of the region.
The Blagoevgrad District of Bulgaria and the South-Eastern Region of North Macedonia have a rich intangible cultural heritage, as well as a unique cultural identity. For the development of this type of tourism, sustainable and efficient cooperation between regional actors in the field of sustainable tourism will be established.
As a result of the successful implementation of the activities envisaged in the project, guest visits and tourist interest in the target region will increase as a result of better promotion of various cultural events and a better promoted unique cultural identity.
