Young people – the new promoters of the cultural identity of the cross-border region
Short description of the project
The main objective of the project was to encourage cooperation in the field of sustainable tourism, by improving the awareness of stakeholders about the common cultural heritage and cultural events in the cross-border region, joint promotion and valorization of the common and unique cultural heritage, improving cooperation between regional institutions in the field of cultural tourism, developing innovative tools and a cooperation network for the promotion and use of the common cultural heritage of the region.
The project activities included the implementation of a cross-border competition on the topic “Share the cultural heritage of your region”, creating youth camps for cultural promoters (First and Second Level), developing a common calendar of cultural events and events in the cross-border region, developing innovative online software, a web portal and social networks for organizing and promoting cultural events and events, creating and popularizing short video presentations of cultural and youth organizations from the target cross-border region, creating a network of young cultural promoters from the cross-border region, a discussion forum in the Republic of North Macedonia and a Final Conference in the Republic of Bulgaria.
The main groups that benefited from the project results are cultural and youth organizations, local authorities, educational institutions, non-governmental organizations in the field of culture, tourism and regional development, and young people from the target region, with effects on the population of the Blagoevgrad district (14 municipalities) and the population of the Southeast planning region (10 municipalities).

Results
The implementation of the project will achieve the following results and benefits:
- Strengthened awareness of stakeholders, target groups and other actors for the protection and preservation of the common cultural heritage, cultural events, manifestations, values and organizations of the cross-border region of the two countries.
Improved promotion and increased valorization of the common and unique cultural heritage of the cross-border region of the two countries. - Promoted cooperation between regional actors in the field of cultural tourism.
Developed and produced innovative tools, activities and ideas for the promotion and valorization of the common cultural heritage and cultural operators of the cross-border region. - Promoted the inclusion and participation of young people in the process of promotion and valorization of the common cultural heritage of the cross-border region.
Increased support and improved innovative and creative thinking, networking and modern skills of young people of the cross-border region. - Established a sustainable network for the promotion, cooperation and valorization of the common cultural heritage of the cross-border region.
