Open workshop for raising awareness of climate changes on river Sushica in Radovish

On July 2nd 2021 was held a workshop for awareness raising of climate changes on the place where the construction activities were implemented on parts of the Sushica riverbed (municipality of Radovish). The event is being conducted within the “Joint actions for prevention and reduction of the consequences of disasters on the municipalities of Sandanski and Radovish” project, co-financed by the Europian Union through the INTERREG IPA CBC Programme Bulgaria – R.N.Macedonia 2014-2020, CCI No2014TC16I5CB006 which the Centre for development of the South-East planning region implemented in partnership with the municipality of Radovish and municipality of Sandanski, R.Bulgaria.

More than 60 participants attended the event, among which there were employees of the Municipality of Radovish, students from MHS “Kosta Susinov” Radovish and students from MHS “Dimitar Vlahov” Strumica. Interactive games and activities for cleaning up the place where there were construction activities were held as part of the program of the workshop, aiming to raise awareness in the younger population on the consequences of climate change and similar risks such as erosion, floods, droughts and other disasters.

The young participants of the open workshop, held from the Centre for development of the South-East planning region, were awarded with certificates for participation and special contribution to the project, while the best participants who successfully placed their knowledge in the interactive games received awards.

The main goal of this project is to implement measures for adjusting the climate changes related to lowering the risk of flooding in the municipalities of Radovish (Republic of North Macedonia) and Sandanski (Republic of Bulgaria).

The project is co-financed by the Europian Union and the National Funds of the participating countries.
