North Macedonia.

Project activities include the development and operational evaluation of ICT systems for early fire detection, a cross-border cooperation network for effective prevention and management of natural disasters, smoke detection system that will offer increased accuracy for fire localization, minimizing false alarms and monitoring of large areas in 24/7 operation of selected high-risk areas.

“Within the framework of the project, two specialized vehicles will also be procured for the territorial fire fighting units in Strumica and Gevgelija. A small rescue truck for the use of the Territorial Fire Fighting Unit – Gevgelija, which will also be used for the municipality of Gevgelija, the municipality of Bogdanci and the municipality of Dojran. A pickup truck for first response for the use of the Strumica Territorial Fire Fighting Unit, which will be used for the municipality of Vasilevo and the municipality of Bosilovo, the municipality of Novo Selo” – said Mrs. Julieta Gjurkova, Head of Sector at the Centre for Development of the South-East Planning Region.

“For us firefighters, it will be of great importance for extinguishing fires in open space, especially for inaccessible places affected by forest fires.” – said Mr. Aleksandar Gudev – Commander of TPPE Strumica.

This project is of great importance because it will be beneficial for the needs of the entire region whenever there is a major fire in the forests, many times at least two municipalities from the region are affected, and this type of procurement of specialized vehicles will facilitate interventions on the ground, and will also increase the efficiency of all four territorial firefighting units.

The project is financed by the European Union with a total value of €1,392,073.50, of which the CDSEPR budget is €267,939.50.
