Reconstruction and reparation of the local road axis from the interchange Karbino, M-6 (Strumica – Shtip)

The Local road, interchange Karbino, M-6 – Dobrashinci is located northeast in length of 5000 meters. The road is planned for two-way traffic on two lanes for all kinds of motor, bike and pedestrian traffic. During the exploration the road is quite burdened because it is going through an active agricultural area and it also leads to the communal
landfill of Strumica and Vasilevo, where heavy specialized vehicles pass every day to carry out the garbage.
Especially important is that this section is an access road to the regional landfill “Dobrashinci” which will be built in place of the existing landfill. The regional landfill is of particular importance since it will be the first of its kind in Macedonia, and will serve Municipalities around the SouthEast region.

Objectives of the project:

• Improving the local road infrastructure in the South-East planning region
• Improving the living conditions for the inhabitants of this micro region;
• Better start positions in the announcement of the public tender procedures for the construction of the regional
  landfill, “Dobrashinci”.

Results of the project:

• Reconstructed local road axis from the interchange Karbino,M-6 to the populated place Dobrashinci and the regional landfill in the length of 3918 m.

Smolare waterfall is declared as a national monument. The manner, mode of operation and maintenance of the same is fully regulated and entered in the Travel Guide of Great Britain, which means attendance is not only by domestic but also by tourists from European countries. Municipality of Novo Selo and South-East planning region made an arrangement around the area, within their capabilities and made it available to all lovers of nature and natural beauty. In order for tourists to enjoy this beauty, it is necessary to build facilities for rest and recreation that will allow full enjoyment of the blessings that nature created. As a monument in his area, special consideration is taken for preservation of the environment, especially where activities for arranging will be conducted. In the process of construction in the zone of active management exclusively natural materials (stone and wood) will be used, as it was predicted with this project. With full implementation of the activities that are planned with the project, real economic conditions for regional development will be created, because the construction of facilities for rest and recreation will allow creation of real opportunities for increasing the number of tourists. That will also increase the
opportunities for greater economic benefit for the local communities and the municipalities, and therefore greater economic regional development.

• Development of the rural and eco-tourism;

• Additional revenues in the municipal budgets;
• Improvement of the touristic offer;
• Improvement of the touristic infrastructure in the SEPR.

Unemployment has been and continues to be one of the main problems in the development of the Republic of Macedonia.Employment in the Republic of Macedonia is characterised by a very unfavorable gender structure. This structure remained unchanged for a long period, primarily because of unstable economic conditions in the country`s social and discrepant of a available and necessary profiles of the labor market. This projectcreates the opportunity for financing new business plans that will allow the opening of new businesses and new jobs.

Objectives of this project

• Selecting of new businesses to support with financial resources for the initiation and registration of business activity
• Creating new jobs for unemployed young and women
• Promoting self-employment among young and woman

Results of the project

•  Established and registered in the Central register three new businesses in:
•  South-East planning region: production and sale of the traditional and homemade sweet and alcoholic liqueur
  that will be prepared by the traditional recipe of this region
• East planning region: handmade wool carpets
• South-West planning region: production of bread, white pastry, cakes and sweets in traditional recipes
• Registered 6 new jobs in the Agency employment and during the year under the necessary of total production
  processes are engaged and will be hired about 12 seasonal workers.
• Survived and expanded new businesses by increasing the turn over and new employment

The Iron Curtain Trail is a series of national and cross boundary protected areas along the former Iron Curtain – passing through many countries, including 14 EU member states. The ICT also stretches into territory of Macedonia, crossing the border near Delchevo, then continuing through a wide valley toward Penchevo and Berovo. The route then passes through fields and meadows heading south, toward the towns of Strumica and Bosilovo, and crossing the Bulgarian border again in the area of the Municipality of Novo Selo. The road is steep at times, but it winds through picturesque hills and offers wonderful views. This project have designed to raise awareness for stakeholders at
the local, regional, and national levels for alternative tourism along the Iron Curtain Trail on Macedonia-Bulgaria border line.

Objectives of this project

• Establishment of networking processes for development and promotion of cycling tourism along the Southern part of Iron Curtain Trail. This objective is directly related to the overall objective and contributes to the wider recognition of the Iron Curtain Trail route and cycling tourism in general.
• Definition of the Southern part of Iron Curtain Trail along RO/BG/MK/GR borderline. This objective has practical bearing on the implementation in reality of the concept of the cycling route.
• Elaboration of concrete project proposals in accordance with the EuroVelo standards and criteria. This objective fulfills the aims of the Call for Proposals by preparing the stakeholders for tangible actions
  of further development of the cycling route and bringing it in compliance with the requirements of the EuroVelo network.

• Evaluation of current state of play and assessment of tourist resources to be included in the development of the ICT
• Discussion forums for matching of the proposed routes between RO/BG/MK/GR and final definition of the Southern part of the route

• Awareness raising workshop – presentation of the defined route and Action Plan
• Work meetings for exchange of experience /good practices from EV and elaboration of projects for evelopment of Southern part of ICT
• Publication of the Action Plan and publicity actions

In the South-East Planning Region agricultural and food sector is a leading industry, and in the total agriculture in the country the region is first and most important in vegetable production and second in importance in tobacco production and viticulture.

The South-East Planning Region (SEPR) has many tourism potentials, with many tourism locations and possibilities for development of the economy through tourism. Gevgelija-Valandovo micro-region is part of the tourism offer of the potentials in the region. The main objective of this project is to develop the tourism potentials of Paljurci, located in the Municipality of Bogdanci.

Objectives of this project

• Creation of additional content and offers for the present conventional and casino tourists in the region and
  prolongation of their stay (as ultimate objectives)
• Arranging the area around the artificial lake Paljurci
• Enrichment of the tourism offer in the region and stimulating the development of rural areas
• Connecting and integrating the offer of rural, cultural-historical, mountain and sport recreation tourism
• Support the implementation of Programme for development of the South-East planning region

Results of the project

• Paljurci is promoted as one of the main tourism attractions in the region
• The area near the artificial lake is completely revitalised, cleaned,arranged and settled with urban equipment
• Better preconditions for longer stay of the tourists in the region are created
• Increased number of visitors in the rural area of the region
• Increased tourism offer in the SEPR
• Partnership between public and private sector, municipalities, NGOs and civil society is improved, especially regarding maintenance and sustainability of the results of this project
• Contribution is given to improve the economic situation and to the increase of the potential for future domestic and foregone investments

Lake tourism is considered as an important development priority for the South-East region because it offers numerous opportunities for business development and new jobs, also because it supports the goal of regional growth in exports and direct investments promotion. This project foresees construction of parking lots, stairs, access ramps, part of the access paths and jardinières, construction of retaining pier wall and sanction of Lake Coast in the dry part and in the water.

• Improvement of the quality of life, especially for the citizens who are directly and indirectly involved in tourism
• Increase the revenue from tourism
• Increase the number of domestic and foreign tourists

The development of tourism is an important priority for development of the South-East planning region because it offers numerous opportunities for development of businesses and new vacancies, but also because it supports the goal of the regional development in the field of export and direct investments. The economic benefit is enormous for people who work in this sector and for each municipality.
The specific goal is to establish basic conditions for regional access to development of tourism in the South-East planning region until the end of 2010, which will contribute for improvement of peoples’ living standard, increased number of tourists and increased income from tourism.
This project will develop a Study for Tourism Development in the entire region in which all touristic potentials will be identified and it will focus on the principle of sustainable development which foresees exploitation of the potentials without a negative impact on the environment. In the frame of the project, promotional materials will be prepared, touristic signalization as well as regional body for tourism management will be established.
The project will provide guidelines for the sustainable development of tourism, and will also be a base for many following developmental projects, while the established regional body will coordinate all the activities within this project.

A main project was elaborated in 1978 and 1979 planning the construction of a dam “Konsko” with adjacent objects, which is to solve the problems of the micro-region. This project should  produce a review of the already existing project and to adapt it to the current market values.

Objectives of this project

•  Construction of “Konsko” dam with associated objects
•  Improved living conditions for the population in municipalities Dojran, Gevgelija and Bogdanci
• Keep sufficient amount of drinking water for three municipalities
•  Development of agriculture as one of the basic existing industries in the three municipalities
•  Developing of tourism and enrich the tourist offer
•  Improving the energy situation in the region
